Hello …
I’m Carrie, mum of three, a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered midwife, and the founder of The Coastal Birth Club.
The Coastal Birth Club was created out of pure passion. I’m a currently practising midwife with over 12 years’ experience in maternity care, working across both community midwifery and labour ward settings. I truly believe that antenatal education should do more than simply prepare you for labour — it should help you understand your body, your choices and how maternity care works, so you feel confident, informed and empowered every step of the way.
But just as importantly… what happens after your baby arrives? How do you recover, adjust and care for a brand-new human while navigating the early days of parenthood? These questions matter too — and they’re a core part of what I teach and help you prepare for.
Pregnancy is such an exciting time, but I also know first-hand how overwhelming, lonely and confusing it can feel too. That understanding is exactly why I created this course — to offer reassurance, clarity and genuine support when you need it most.
As a local midwife working within the maternity system every day, I bring real-world insight, up-to-date clinical knowledge from a wide range of trusted sources, and a clear understanding of how care is delivered locally. I also have strong connections with other excellent local pregnancy and postnatal resources, helping you access support beyond the classroom if and when you need it.
Alongside my BSc Midwifery degree, I hold a Diploma in Antenatal Education. I’m qualified in hypnobirthing and certified in aromatherapy for pregnancy and birth, allowing me to blend calm, holistic approaches with solid clinical expertise — supporting both your emotional wellbeing and physical preparation.
High-quality antenatal education really does matter. In the UK, antenatal teaching isn’t a licensed profession, meaning anyone can offer classes regardless of training or experience. That’s why I’m proud to be FEDANT accredited, meeting nationally recognised standards for antenatal educators. This ensures the information you receive is accurate, evidence-based and delivered to a professional standard — with warmth, honesty and a few laughs along the way.
Through my classes, my aim is to create a supportive, relaxed space where you feel heard, reassured and fully prepared — not just for birth, but for early parenthood too. Ask all the questions, learn practical skills and tips, and meet other local expectant parents who will be there with you during those 3am feeds.
I really look forward to meeting you in class and being apart of your journey.
Carrie 🤍
